After School!

Here in Spain there are a growing number of after school clubs around the Costa del Sol so, you can guarantee there is plenty to keep your children occupied in the afternoon. The down side is that you do have to pay for a lot of them.

Some of the International Schools have afternoon clubs that the children can participate in (some of which are free) but there are also other options available if your school doesn't provide something your child would be interested in.

Most areas have football clubs, most of which accept both boys and girls and if rugby is your child's chosen sport then there are one or two clubs around but you may have to travel to these.

There are several drama and stage schools about that offer your child the opportunity to learn dance and music along with drama and other aspects of the entertainment business such as production and sound.

Several of the churches offer Youth Clubs and activities all year round.

Beware that a lot of clubs and activities close down for the summer which is when you most need then although many of them have succumbed to the requests of parents and remain open for the bulk of the holidays, just closing down for the hottest weeks.

There are summer schools aplenty around the Costa del Sol some of which are very reasonably priced which can help out during those long summer months.

One consolation is that the kids are generally busy with the beach and going to other friends for swimming and days by the pool, so it is a lot easier to keep them occupied here with the sun shining that it is in the UK with the unsettled summer weather.
